Sturdy ADA Compliant 24 Inch Brushed Stainless Grab Bar. Measure First and Install Securely

I ordered the 24 inch brushed stainless version of this ADA compliant grab bar because I am disabled and expect I may need additional support in my bathroom as I get older. I do not currently have a grab bar in my own bathroom, and this looked like something that could be useful either near the toilet or possibly in the shower later. The 24 inch brushed stainless version was $26.99 when I ordered it. I chose the brushed stainless finish because it matches the other metal fixtures in my bathroom, including the faucet, shower hardware, and towel rack. The finish looks smooth, shiny, and clean-looking. The bar feels sturdy and secure in the hand. This grab bar comes in several sizes and finishes. The listing shows sizes including 18, 24, 36, 42, and 54 inches, with finishes including brushed stainless, brushed gold, and matte black. From the prices I saw, the 18 inch was $22.99, the 24 inch was $26.99, the 36 inch was $29.99, the 42 inch was $36.99, and the 54 inch was $79.99. I picked the 24 inch size without measuring first, which is something I really should have done. In my small bathroom, the 24 inch size just fits in the wall space beside my toilet. Anything larger would have been too long for that location. I probably could have used the 18 inch size, so I definitely recommend measuring the intended wall space before choosing a length. The listing describes this as an 18-gauge stainless steel grab bar with a 1.5 inch outside diameter and a 500 lb capacity when properly installed. The 1.5 inch diameter feels comfortable and secure to grip. I usually prefer slightly narrower things to hold, but this size still feels fine to me. Someone with very small hands may find the diameter a little large, but the size makes sense for a safety grab bar. The brand store shows that this company carries many commercial restroom products, including grab bars, dispensers, toilet-related fixtures, and other public-bathroom equipment. That gave me more context for the product and why this grab bar seems sturdy and well made. My shower has a small built-in bar, which at least gives me something to hold onto, but it is not as large, thick, or substantial as this 24 inch grab bar. I also recently found a shower mat that works with my shower floor, so I am trying to make my bathroom feel safer and more manageable as my back and leg issues continue. I could see this being useful near the toilet because that is a place where extra support can really matter. I have severe back pain, leg pain, and other medical issues, and there are times when getting up from the toilet is harder than it should be. A properly installed grab bar beside the toilet could be very helpful for that. The listing shows concealed mounting flanges with snap-on covers, so the screws are hidden after installation. The round mounting flange has multiple screw holes for flexible placement, and six stainless screws are included in the box. The grab bar came with basic installation and warranty information. The instructions say to measure the area beforehand, check the intended installation location, avoid pipes, wires, grout, and other problem areas, mark the screw hole locations before drilling, and make sure the proper anchors or fasteners are used for the specific wall surface. The information also states that special fasteners, anchors, and backing are not included, and that improper wall support or mounting can result in personal injury or property damage that is not covered under the warranty. Because this is a safety grab bar with a listed 500 lb capacity, I would not treat installation casually. The instructions recommend using a licensed installer or contractor who can meet the weight-bearing and local code requirements. That makes sense to me. Unless someone is skilled and knows exactly how to install this type of weight-bearing bathroom safety device, I think professional installation would be the safest choice. I have not installed it yet because I want to do more research and have someone help me install it correctly. I do not want to damage the wall or shower area, and I also do not want to assume it is safe unless it is mounted properly. If a grab bar is installed incorrectly, especially in a shower, that could be dangerous because someone could grab it expecting support and fall. Overall, this seems like a sturdy, well-made ADA compliant grab bar with a nice brushed stainless finish, a comfortable grip, concealed screw covers, and several size and finish options. I recommend measuring first and making sure you choose the best length for your situation and placement.

27x3 inch Brushed Stainless Steel w/1.5” Diameter Grab Bar

This well made 27x3 inch Support Grab Bar with a diameter of 1.5 inches is just what I need as I am getting older and need the confidence and support this device provides. I especially like that this bar is made from Eighteen gauge Brushed Stainless Steel, is very nice to look at as well as easy to install (with a 12 hole design and flexible mounting hardware) in my bathroom. I am 76 and I feel it gives me the extra security I need getting in and out of the shower. In addition, it has a convenient snap on cover to hide the screws for a nicer look. I intend to get another one to go where the toilet is located.

Sturdy grab bar with flexible installation options

I ordered this 24-inch stainless steel grab bar for our master walk-in shower to provide a little extra stability when the floor gets wet and slippery. At the same time, my husband purchased a similar grab bar from a well-known brand, so we ended up with a good opportunity to compare the two side by side. We'll be installing the second one in our guest bathroom. After handling both products, I found them to be equally sturdy and confidence-inspiring. This grab bar feels solid and well constructed, with no concerns about strength once properly installed. One advantage this model has is the mounting design, which offers more flexibility when positioning the bar and selecting installation angles. The brushed stainless steel finish also gives it a clean, modern appearance. The main difference between the two bars came down to personal preference. The name-brand version has a textured grip surface, which my husband preferred. This one has a smooth finish, which I actually like better because it feels more sanitary and is easier to wipe clean. Overall, I think this is an excellent value for a safety product that feels just as sturdy as more expensive alternatives. Whether you're adding support in a shower, near a tub, or beside a toilet, it provides the stability you'd expect from a properly installed grab bar. The flexible mounting options and easy-to-clean finish make it a solid choice for both residential and commercial bathrooms.

This grab bar is feasible for my establishment

This is an excellent handicapped grab bar for commercial use in public restroom stalls. I purchased the 18'. It works good it is safely and securely mounted to the bathroom wall. And it is easy to clean and sanitize for easy grip care for my patrons.

Way more sturdy than I was expecting, Feels like something to help actual people with a disability

This grab bar is way more sturdy than I was expecting. I think it could probably hold my whole weight if it was anchored properly to the wall (via secured to studs, or with high-quality wall anchors). It's pretty thick and comfortable to hold, and feels perfect for anyone with a disability who needs help transferring themselves in or out of a wheelchair (I spent some time with a disability, so I understand how difficult some basic stuff can be when you can't use your legs at all)

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the correct grab bar length?

Choose a shorter bar for compact support areas and a longer bar when a larger gripping surface is required. Measure the usable wall space, locate structural backing and consider whether the bar will be installed beside a toilet, in a shower or near a bathtub.

What material and diameter does this grab bar use?

This stainless steel grab bar is made from high-quality 18-gauge stainless steel and has a 1.5-inch outside diameter. The substantial gripping surface is designed for residential and commercial bathroom support applications.

What finishes are available?

The range is available in brushed stainless steel, matte black and brushed gold. You can coordinate the wall mount grab bar with faucets, shower fixtures, towel bars and other bathroom hardware.

How much weight can the grab bar support?

The bar is rated to support up to 500 lb when correctly installed into suitable wall studs or structural backing. Actual performance depends on the wall construction, fasteners and installation quality.

Is this an ADA-compliant grab bar?

The bar's 1.5-inch outside diameter is within the ADA grab bar diameter range and can support an ADA-compliant installation. Final compliance also depends on the selected length, height, location, wall clearance, orientation and the complete bathroom layout.

What is the recommended ADA grab bar height?

For many adult ADA toilet and shower layouts, horizontal grab bars are installed 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor, measured to the top of the gripping surface. The correct ADA grab bar height and placement should be confirmed for the specific installation and local code.

Can this bar be used in a shower or bathtub?

Yes. It can be used as a shower grab bar or bathtub grab bar when securely mounted to appropriate structural backing. Shower grab bar placement should be based on where the user needs support when entering, standing, turning or transferring.

Can it be installed beside a toilet?

Yes. This toilet grab bar can provide additional support when sitting down, standing up or transferring. Choose the length and installation position according to the available side or rear wall and any applicable accessibility requirements.

Is this grab bar suitable for seniors?

Yes. Grab bars for seniors and elderly users can provide an additional gripping surface in showers, bathtub areas and beside toilets. The bar should be positioned within comfortable reach and professionally installed when the wall structure is uncertain.

How is the grab bar installed on tile, drywall or concrete?

The 12-hole flanges provide flexible mounting positions, and mounting hardware is included. Proper grab bar installation requires secure structural support behind the finished wall; tile or drywall alone should not support the load, and the installer should select fasteners suitable for the wall type.
